What you’re saying is “Okay so this book encourages sexism, rape, homophobia, anti-semitism, slavery, violence and terrorism, but it also says ‘be nice to other people’ and ‘if you’re nice I will reward you with 72 virgin slaves’ so if people just pretend like it doesn’t say any of those first things, they’re good people!” and you’re wondering why I don’t quite buy that.
The only way these people are able to not be homophobic, anti-semitic, etc. is by rejecting their religion for condoning those things. It isn’t a change in religion that led to this, because their religion has not changed. Their gods haven’t changed. Their gods still demand the same things. When they teach their children or their pupils their religion, their book teaches the same old hate. When they defend and spread their religion, it includes those 'bad parts.’
They have to disagree with and distance themselves from their religion in order to be good people. Less religion made them better people.
There seems to be a clear formula there.
PS: religion is a choice, an idea one believes in and follows. To compare this to inborn traits that say nothing about the beliefs and actions of a person is beyond retarded.
Sexism doesn’t exist in comics

in case you don’t know, Gail Simone wrote Deadpool
in fact she relaunched Deadpool
I just want to say, I think people are making a bigger deal of this than they should, to be honest.
It’s not that he didn’t recognize me (why would he?) and it’s not that I thought he was ‘sexist.’ It was just a guy excited about Deadpool and he started telling the closest person in line.
I said a bunch of times after posting this tweet that I didn’t think he was being sexist, it just seemed kind of funny. I live in a tiny small town, there’s no reason for him to think someone who wrote Deadpool was in line with him.
AND the few times I’ve told a guy who talked about the movie that I used to write the character, they were universally very positive and excited about it. Not one bad experience.
So, while it would be nice if people didn’t just ASSUME that a woman wouldn’t know who Deadpool was, I didn’t ever think it was this big deal, I just thought it was kind of funny that the ONE person he chose to explain Deadpool that day is actually given a shout-out in the movie. That struck me as kind of amusing.
He wasn’t being a dick, he just was excited about Deadpool, and assumed I wouldn’t know who Wade Wilson was. Not a big deal at all.
How in God’s name does this have 70K notes?
cause most of em are only gonna reblog the first bit and complain a whole bunch on your behalf, cause they do that here for some reason
Context, kiddos

A bunch of stuff, but the thing that really caught my attention is that the trailer ends on a conversation between Lapis and Peridot which goes something like this:
Lapis: “They are going to take their anger out on this planet just like they did before. I won’t’ let myself get caught up in another war.”
Peridot: “Earth is our home now. Isn’t it worth fighting for?”
Peri convincing Lapis to fight!! What if they’re gonna FUSE?! Please, God, let this be it.
What if Peri convinces Lapis to join the Crystal
Gems properly?! Maybe, because of the history between Lapis and the Crystal Gems, she doesn’t wanna fight in their name - but she’d fight alongside Peridot, if Peri put the “our home” spin onto it. After all, Lapis was ready to fight for her home when home=the barn (back in Gem Harvest)!! What if this is how she convinces Lapis to fuse - so that they can fight together, for their home?!
What if they fight, poof together and both reform with stars
at the same time?! :O
Help me guys I’m freaking the fuck out over here ;___;
